Play Therapy

The Greystones Family Resource Centre aims to provide a low cost, professional play therapy service to members of the wider Greystones community. Children & young people are sometimes strongly affected by life events. Play/creative therapy provides children & young people with an opportunity to safely express their feelings and thoughts. Play therapy also supports children and young people to develop tools to cope with difficulties in a more positive and constructive way.

Anybody from Greystones, Kilcoole, Delgany or Newtownmountkennedy who would like to access low-cost play therapy can contact the centre.

Intake

All requests/referrals for play therapy go to the GFRC coordinator. The coordinator will arrange a meeting with those seeking play therapy to go through the service intake form. The intake form includes a brief summary of issues the person hopes to address through play therapy. This will only be passed on to a play therapist with the person’s consent. The form also details the agreed fee to be paid per session.

Cost

Clients pay a donation of €20 towards the cost of each session. If cost is an issue, please discuss this with the coordinator, not the therapist.

Number of sessions

The centre is not in a position to fund ongoing play therapy for individuals. Each person will be offered 15 sessions of play therapy.

Please note due to the level of demand there may be a waiting period before your child can access this service but we will try to keep this to a minimum.
